Escape reality for a little while & disappear into the horizon with our wonderfully unique, off-grid camper van hire.
If you're into clean lines & spa pedicures, or the bells & whistles of a factory mass produced RV motor home, we might not be for you... Or, we might be the refreshing change you're looking for!
Meet our Lily...
She is a 2011, converted Citroen Relay, long wheel base, van. She has spent her life up until now working for the trades; but just like when Julia Roberts met Richard Gere and he gave her his credit card, our van met a couple of Weirdos who thought she deserved a bit of a make over and a new life worth living too.

Lily is a two and one little person berth. The large snug seating area converts easily into a spacious double bed (little ones are free to bed share), and we also offer a kiddies camp bed for our adventurers with a little human in tow.
This is a completely off-grid camping experience - all of the electrics are powered by solar and our super battery is also charged as the engine runs. We have running water through the floor pump and a two ringed gas hob with a kettle that sings for making a brew or bubble up your beans in our little copper pot!
You'll also find a fridge, all of your crockery, cutlery, utensils, pots & pans, dish cloths & biodegradable washing up liquids, hand soaps & anit-bac gels... We've even got you covered with an outdoor camping table and chairs... With optional extras, like bedding and towels available too, all you gotta do is pack your under-crackers & turn up & let the staycation begin!
We don't have hot running water or a bathroom (we do have a porta pottie for those little widdles that threaten to come at the first wuff of a sneeze!) You can choose to go it like Bear Grylls and keep it wild, or avail of one of our many many MANY fantastic campsites throughout the island of Ireland for your staycation, where you will fi

You can choose to go it like Bear Grylls and keep it wild, or avail of one of our many many MANY fantastic campsites throughout the island of Ireland for your staycation, where you will find a loo that flushes and shower facilities.
You make your plans and travel your own way - We're not here to judge... (But are you even camping if you don't get washed with a biodegradable baby wipe in a field where you've just made a pee pee?)
Special thanks to Mark @wander(ful) N.Ireland for our gorgeous photographs of Lily... I think he captured her best side!

We accept drivers aged 21 and over who hold a full clean drivers license (a standard license is fine to drive Lily) and have at least two years driving experience. We need to see the paper part too - without that bit, we'll need your permission for a DVLA license check.
A few niggily points are fine, but chat to us if you've been naughtier than 3!
We need to see two recent proofs of address (within the past three months). Something official, like bank statements/HMRC letters etc.
We might also ask to see an additional proof of photographic ID in addition to your license.
We hold a refundable deposit that we take at least 24 hours before your hire begins and is returned to you within 48 hours of Lily being brought back in one piece and the way you got her.
Our deposit can vary, depending on your age, license status etc. We usually ask for around £250 for over 25's with a clean license. We state how much is required when you ask for a quote.
Prices are per night & include fully comprehensive insurance
Low Season runs from 01 October - 31 March
Mid Season runs from 01 April - 12 June & 01 - 31 September
High Season runs from 13 June - 31 August
We have special weekly rates for campers wanting to book Lily for 7 nights; talk to us to find out more. We can also accommodate longer term bookings of over 21 nights, but these need to be booked well in advance... Obviously!
Terms and conditions apply for all bookings. Camper is for a maximum of three passengers. Additional packages must be pre-booked. Subject to availability.
We thought we would compile a few our our 'frequently asked questions' to make things a little easier... If camper vans are new to you, of course you're going to have a few questions; even if you're used to the motorhome life, we are pretty different and Lily is one of a kind, so lets take a look at 'What's good to know, before you go...'
Where is the pick up point?
You will collect and return Lily to Belfast. We are just outside the city centre. You will get an email to confirm your booking that will give you the full address :)
Do you accept dogs?
Yup - we sure do! Your furry friend is more than welcome to join in on the adventure. We have a few general common sense rules though. It is your responsibility to make sure your doggo travels safely and legally in the vehicle (we don't provide restraints/cages etc.) Your pup follows the same rules as you do ie: no one keeks on the floor, regardless of species. If you are hiring our bedding, pup sleeps on his own bedding and in the interest of looking after our lovely Lily, your pup isn't to cause damage or leave lingering stinkiness... Same applies to toddlers ;) It's also a good idea to think about the size of the van... three Great Dane's aren't going to have a particularly enjoyable road trip all smooched in!
Is Lily automatic?
No she isn't. Lily is a manual, 2011, converted Citroen Relay, Long Wheel Base van.
How many does Lily sleep?
Lily is really best suited to couples/duos and single travellers. Legally, no more than three people are allowed to travel at any one time - she has three belted seat belts so in accordance with the law.... Three persons max. We do have provisions for a little person to join in on the adventure, we recommend as a bed share, but we do also provide a little junior camp bed for the floor if preferred. If you're into three grown-ups in a bed kinda scenario, knock yourselves out... Just bare in mind the bed is a decent sized double!
What should I bring with me?
Aside from your usual under-crackers and a change of clothes, your sleeping bags and pillows and some towels - in a Covid-free world, we offer packages with these add-on's but until we're back to 'normal', we ask that you bring your own to avoid too much touchy-feelyness in the cleaning process. Touch points and all that! We do still have a few extra cosy blankets that are kept in the van as standard, just in case you need them, but the heater is pretty awesome! Wellies are always a good one to fire in the boot too and don't forget your toothbrush! If you have a look at our 'little touches of luxury, you will see what extras we offer... you chose what works best for you!)
What happens if I have points on my license?
We've all got a few rogue points floating about, generally it's fine. If you have had 6 points in one blow, talk to us and we can chat to our insurer. Any black blotches... Just ask us and we will find out if our insurer can cover you. We can often work around a few question marks, but you may be responsible to pay a higher rate to cover insurance and/or leave behind a larger security deposit.
Where can I take Lily?
Our prices include insurance for UK and Ireland. We like to to stay within those boundaries for rentals.
Where can I park up?
Now there's a question and the answer is pretty much, 'it's up to you' - all we ask is that you park somewhere legal (we will forward you on your parking ticket if you've been a reprobate of the road). The south of Ireland is typically a lot friendlier in terms of 'wild camping' but you can still find some lovely little spots dotted around the north too if you chose to opt out or, are out of season for a camp site. Lily can hold her own in a field with no electricity... She makes her own! Lily is also signed up to ’safe nights Ireland’ so our customers get temporary access to the locations of safe stop overs during their rental... (The cost for camp sites/stopovers etc are completely independent from Wandering Weirdos - we don’t arrange that for you)
Where do I empty the waste before I bring Lily back?
That really depends on where you have been. You will likely be passing toilet blocks and chemical disposals on your road trip - our advice is to do your research first and make sure that you are able to get all cleaned up and sorted out before you arrive back. Some of our local adventures pop in home to do the necessary before they make their return. It's up to you, but that part needs to be done... Your deposit is at stake if you leave us your deposits!
What happens if we break down?
Lily may look like a refined lady now, but underneath it all, she's a work horse and we keep her very well maintained. If you do find yourself on a sticky wicket though, don't panic. We are fully insured with roadside cover... so pull up safely, pop the kettle on and await the rescue! No sweat!
This is when Jim throughly milked his good deed of bringing our new van back home to Belfast... #letsallclapforjim
That time Gemma tried to pretend not to be awkward on camera and said "ummmm" a lot! C'mon and have a wee look at our van though - She's still a work in progress but we're nearly there!
Check out what’s been happening in the Weirdo wagon over the past couple of weeks... The books are now open
Aaaand we're ready and on the road! Taking bookings now! Horay!
We all know this bit sucks, but it's gotta be done...
